One of my brides has an attraction to retro inspired style that is influencing the concept and design of her wedding. After she found the perfect dress to reflect her natural elegance and vintage flare, we started the hunt for retro inspired bridal shoes.

Here are some of the highlights of our delightful research, enjoy!

My beloved Mandy and Karl are getting married this month. I have avoided writing this post because, selfishly, I am in denial that our planning journey is nearly done and I am trying to postpone having to say good-bye.

It’s hard to believe that their wedding is just around the corner. Mandy, Karl and I started planning their June 2012 wedding in the summer of 2010, so that they could take their time, enjoy the planning of the wedding and because we knew we would have to work around Karl’s hectic hockey schedule. At times, we have been impatient waiting for the date to arrive, but I think it is going to be worth it. By their wedding day, we will have worked together for over two years and it’s going to be a pretty emotional day all around. Hilary Miles can attest to how invested I am in giving them their dream wedding; I was in her store last week looking at the final mock up of their wedding flowers and I burst into tears of happiness. I want this day to be perfect for them, to truly reflect their personalities and to honor the love they have for each other.

I think the world of these two, as they know. It has been a honor and a joy to get to know them and watch how loving, kind and supportive they are of each other. I even started to pay attention to hockey (talk about stressful!) so I could cheer them both on during the Stanley Cup playoffs and that’s saying a lot.

Mandy + Karl, I wish you a life time of happiness, you deserve nothing less.

Now it’s time to celebrate!

xoxo

Their love was beautifully captured by Sweet Pea photographer, Lori Miles-thank you for letting us share.

I just had to share with you a these sneak peak pictures that wedding photographer Amber Hughes took of one of our couples a few weeks ago during their engagement shoot in VanDusen Gardens. I simply adore Junho and Gina. I am not sure they totally realize how much I look forward to our planning meetings, emails and text messages. Junho always makes me laugh out loud when I read his emails, and Gina is one of the sweetest and most lovely brides I have had the privilege of working with. It has been a joy planning their wedding.

Junho and Gina: I am looking forward to your wedding day and I am going to miss you greatly once it is over.

Thank you Amber for letting us use these beautiful images!

may flowers

May brings some of my favorite flowers (peonies anyone?!) and I am loving our floral meetings this month as it gives me an opportunity to see all of them in bloom. One of my favorites of all is the Lily of the Valley. Seems I am not the only one, check out the feature in Vogue this month:

By Aurora

This month we are excited to Welcome some of our favorite wedding make-up pros to share their favorite beauty products with you.  We thought it would be fun to start off by sharing some of our favorite products with you before calling in the true experts.  Here are some of my go to products:

Mascara: Diorshow by Dior  $28.00 (Sephora). Lots of thickening and lengthening but no smudging.

Lipstick/Gloss: Just Bitten Lipstain by Revlon in Passion Around $8.00 (Drug Stores). I’m too busy to re apply every hour and this is my solution. Lasts about three to four hours before you need to re apply. And it doesn’t dry out your lips like some of those long wear lip glosses do. A great lipstick to have on your wedding day!

Blush/Highlighter: Beauty Powder in Shell Pearl from MAC. $25.00

Long story with this one: I had a love affair with the MAC Limited Edition Barbie highlighter blush called Pearl Blossom and one horrific day it got confiscated at the airport because , and I quote, “Swabbed positive for explosives.”  I was devastated. But the security lady eyeing my compact looked pretty happy about it. I was heartbroken until I met Liberty London Limited Edition in Shell Pearl which has a similar Pink-peach shimmer look.

The moral of this story is limited edition makeup gives me anxiety!! And…buy two!

Foundation: Teinte Miracle by Lancome with SPF 15  $38.00 (Lancome counters). Liquid Makeup with medium coverage. This lasts all day on me and doesn’t look caked on. Natural finish, which I love.

Under Your Makeup? I swear by Olay Sensitive Skin All day moisturizer with SPF 15. It has a light lotion feel I put it on right before my foundation to make it sit more evenly. I have very sensitive skin, as far as cleansers and moisturizers go, so I rejoiced when a friend recommended this in college. I still use it everyday!

Next week we will be featuring Nadia Albano’s favorite beauty products.

Beauty Products We Love

By Aurora

One of my favorite and most dangerous (for my bank account)  pastimes is perusing the Makeup stores or sections. I can lose hours of my day happily sampling new lipsticks and considering contouring brushes.

The moment you get engaged you have lots of events ahead of you where you would like to look your best: engagement parties, dress shopping outings, brunches with friends, and bachelorette parties. The choice of products are endless and some are standouts but how do you find them?!

In March, Alicia and I are going to share with you our favorite go to beauty products. We have also enlisted the help of some of our favorite professional makeup artists to share their must have products with us all month long. It’s going to be a fun month!

On this cold January Monday morning I wanted to share with you some images from one of my favorite weddings last year.  This wedding makes me happy every time I think about it.  I hardly slept the night before the wedding as the forecast was calling for rain and I knew how much Ann wanted the ceremony outside in the VanDusen Gardens. The morning of the wedding I was armed with 60 umbrellas and ready for anything, but luck was on our side and the sun came out in the afternoon just an hour before the ceremony.

Ann and Marty’s wish came true; we had an intimate garden wedding ceremony with music by Musical Occasions on the Great Lawn followed by a beautiful dinner reception at Shaughnessy Restaurant. The wedding was complete with a butter cream cake by Sweet Thea and stunning flowers by Sacha at Flower Box- aren’t they beautiful?! I think the main reason this wedding makes me so happy was witnessing how much love was surrounding Ann and Marty on their wedding day. I loved how intimate, understated and personal their celebration was. Enjoy the photos and I hope they brighten your Monday
