Leyla & David’s elegant Brock House wedding

Wedding Coordination by Kasia Wardowic | Wedding Photography by Christie Graham Photography

Love, family and laughter: these three words beautifully describe Leyla and David’s elegant August wedding.

On the morning of the wedding, Leyla, her sister/maid of honour and close family members got ready at the stunning Fairmont Pacific Rim with cocktails and canapés. You could feel the love and excitement beaming from all the walls as Leyla and her family got their makeup done by Nadia Albano Style Inc., while Christie Graham Photography and Hera Studio Inc. captured the magical moments. Leyla was surprised by her father-in-law to-be with a personal delivery of jaw-dropping roses and a sweet note from her husband to-be.

After the intimate ceremony, the out-of-town guests were treated to a tour of the city, with their final destination being Brock House Restaurant. Guests were welcomed into cocktail hour with champagne and canapés while enjoying the stunning views that Vancouver has to offer, before being invited into the tent for the reception.

The guests were in awe as they entered the tent. The tables were perfectly dressed with black and white linens, touches of gold, white calla lilies and hydrangeas, designed by Koncept Event Design and Flowerz. As the guest took their seats they were delighted by the personally-written place cards and M&M’s, as well as pashminas for the ladies for when the weather cooled down later in the evening. All these thoughtful details and personal touches made for a heartfelt celebration, which set the ambiance for the entire evening and left a lasting impressing on all of the guests. Once guests finished their meals and shared many laughs (and a few happy tears), it was time for them to dance the night away!

With love,

Kasia xoxo

Sarah & Justin’s Loft Wedding

Wedding Management by Alicia Keats | Wedding Photography by Dallas Kolotylo Photography

We were thrilled that a couple of weeks ago, Sarah and Justin’s wedding was featured on Rock ‘N’ Roll Bride. It seemed like a perfect time to feature them on our blog as well!

Working on Sarah and Justin’s wedding was especially meaningful for me because Sarah is one of our talented Wedding Day Coordinators and I adore her to bits. She has been with us for quite a few years and I was so excited to help her and be there for her on her wedding day as she has been there for so many of our brides.

Sarah did all of her own wedding planning and I helped with her wedding coordination so she could be fully present on the day. I loved watching the wedding design come together as we got closer to the day, as I knew it would be personal. Sarah is crazy talented and very creative. Sarah designed the flowers herself, created all the signs and found all the décor elements such as the giant gold frames for the ceremony backdrop and the rugs. I just love the eclectic, bohemian, art deco feel of her design, it is very Sarah.

Sarah and Justin wanted an alternative wedding that really focused on the parts they cared about most – having a great time with their friends and family, in a relaxed atmosphere and a killer dance party. They wanted to avoid traditions that didn’t resonate with them and keep the ones that did.

Sarah and Justin were married at The Loft in Yaletown. Sarah wore Nicole Miller with a custom headpiece by Olivia the Wolf and Jasmine Hoffman did her make up. Instead of a seated dinner, they had cocktail-style food stations and passed canapes. This added to the fun, relaxed, party vibe. They also cut a pie, made by Justin’s Grandma, instead of a traditional cake. For dancing, their DJ, the talented Michael Fraser, played his violin along to the songs, which was a great surprise that all the guests loved. Everyone danced into the wee hours of the morning, it was truly a wonderful day.

With love,

Alicia xoxo

Claire + Peter’s Gastown Wedding

Vancouver wedding photography

Wedding Management by Alicia Keats | Wedding Photography by John Bello

I don’t think I have ever laughed so hard as I did with these two at their wedding rehearsal. I knew it was going to be a great wedding day! I loved the vision they had for their wedding from the second Claire shared her ideas with me. They wanted their wedding to be filled with love in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Their beautiful ceremony was held at The Diamond in the heart of Gastown. The ceremony was so personal it made me tear up a few times. To start, they walked each other down the aisle which I loved. They also included part of the Supreme Court Ruling on the legalization of same-sex marriage in the United States, written by Justice Anthony Kennedy in their ceremony. Standing at the back of the room watching these two special people who love and respect each other be surrounded by their loved ones and listening to the Justice’s words, touched me to my core. His words had an even deeper meaning that afternoon as we all took a moment to reflect on the meaning of marriage and the importance of marriage equality:

“No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family. In forming a martial union, two people become something greater than they once were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions.. They asked for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.”

The ceremony ended with passed champagne, hugs and tears of love. Shortly thereafter the guests all made their way across the street to The Portside Pub for the reception. Oysters, beer and a family style meal got the party off to a great start and before we knew it, the band came on the everyone danced into the early hours of the morning. Special thanks to Jayna Marie for her talents on hair and make up and to Flower Box for all the beautiful orange, white, and pink flowers.

With Love,

Alicia xoxo
